Jonny, let me introduce myself fast. I am a US soldier stationed in the Netherlands. I have recovered MIAs for a few years now. The planned recovery of this aircraft has been executed in complete cooperation of all parties involved. When Felix found the wreck and the associated human remains, German police, EOD and town officials were notified. As a consequence, so was the MOD via their liaison partner at JHQ Rheindahlen. As it comes to the recovery, we all know that the official viewpoint is that these sites are considered defacto wargraves. Permission normally is only granted if such a site is in danger ....Read More.

Jonny, thanks for your response. As you are well aware of, the Air Attache at the Berlin Embassy is not responsible for these cases anymore, as the reigns were handed over to a gentleman who is situated within the HQ building at JHQ Rheindahlen. I am sure you can understand that I am not willing to share private persons particulars on an open forum without their explicit permission. If you would like, I can request a copy of the German police and EOD report to prove that Felix, as well as the town mayor and his counselman have acted in full accord with German law. It is also well known that the RAF authorizes a recovery only if the (in this case Germany) country in whi ....Read More.
